Penzeys has a full time CPA position available.  We are looking for a flexible self-starter who is able to work successfully on projects both independently and with others.  Applicants should have good verbal and written communication and problem solving skills, with great attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing the monthly closing process, including preparing, verifying and controlling the entering of journal entries to the general ledger
  • Preparing balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Maintaining integrity of the general ledger
  • Preparing financial statements and annual forecasts
  • Providing reports and variance explanations for monthly upper management financial review meetings
  • Producing 401(k) audit, year-end financial audit and annual income tax return schedules
  • Reviewing externally prepared income tax returns for completeness
  • Preparing financial analyzes for bankers and for internal use
  • Reconciling inventory, preparing journal entries, and related inventory work including annual standard setting/re-costing
  • Taking on projects and other duties as assigned


Requirements include:

  • Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • CPA certificate (obtained or in progress)
  • 5+ years of varied accounting experience
  • 2+ years of public accounting experience (preferred)
  • Management experience is helpful, but not necessary
  • Strong personal computer software skills, including MS Excel & Word skills
  • Experience using an automated accounting system as part of a large ERP system
  • Strong understanding of accrual-based accounting
